"School That Fits" Every child is unique, with a learning style to match. Toronto is a city rich in educational choices and we all know how critical a child's experience of education can be. How do you find the right environment to encourage and develop your child's love of learning, self-confidence and acquisition of high-level skills? Dr. Bill Ford is one of Toronto's leading psycho-educational consultants, who for over twenty years has been expertly assessing children's learning needs and advising their parents on how to make the right educational choices. Dr. Ford was joined by a panel drawn from some of Toronto's most respected schools-Dorohty Davis (UTS), Meg Fox (The Dragon), Veena Gupta (Havergal) and Claire Reed (Sterling Hall)-- in discussing the various options.

Seeing Ourselves as Inquirers: Dr. Fran Schwartz and Jonathan Silin on Action Research.
With the coaching and teaching of Doctors Schwartz and Silin, Dragon staff have undertaken an inquiry project (action research) to engage and question our own practices, collaboratively strengthening our programme. Thinking deeply about challenging educational issues and questioning the reasons for our approaches is a critical aspect of Dragon practise. Fran Schwartz and Jonathan Silin are associates of The Bank Street College of Education, where they teach teachers, conduct research, and consult on implementing inquiry/action research. " On October 25, representatives of The Dragon faculty and Parents' Guild fielded questions from dozens of parents at our booth at the Our Kids Go to School Fair, an informative annual event hosted at Roy Thompson Hall. We were delighted this year to see how many parents had circled our name and booth number, and to find ourselves the object of many parents' quest, as they looked for a meaningful alternative to conventional teaching. Dr. Fox has commented on this event in her blog, under "Sign Envy".

Our innovative approach fosters curiosity, skepticism, and independent thought, making science a lively and a relevant subject field, As both a method and as a body of knowledge, authentic science is powerful, and offers students a tool for crucial change.
